Cancer Resources & Events

Questions, concerns, worries, fears and hopes are all part of the process for a patient with cancer.

At Virginia Hospital Center, you can bring all your questions to the Cancer Resource Center. We will help you find answers, listen to your concerns, help you understand your treatment, and provide a place to do research-or simply rest. The Cancer Resource Center provides assistance to more than 1,500 patients and family members each year.

Perhaps our most important resource is our volunteer staff. Many volunteers are former cancer patients who truly understand your experience and will guide you through the process of treatment. They can also help you and your family members find support groups and direct you to resources in the community for a variety of services.

Brochures and books, videos, periodicals and pamphlets are all available to help you learn more about cancer and treatment options. A computer with Internet access gives you the opportunity to use resources on the World Wide Web. Whether you are already a patient at the Cancer Center or you are in search of services, the Cancer Resource Center can help.

Conveniently located and comfortably furnished, the Cancer Resource Center plays another important role. It provides a place to relax, rest and recuperate before or after treatments and physician appointments, and to gather with other patients to talk and share. In addition, the Cancer Resource Center has a selection of wigs, turbans and scarves available for patients who have lost hair due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
